Following
in d’Artagnan’s footsteps.
Gers invites you to a real time travel.
After having been under the Roman’s authority, who
left behind multiple traces: statues, treasures, gallo-roman
villas…, the principality of Gascony was taking birth.
Lupiac in the Gers is the village where Charles de Batz
de Castelmore, alias the famous d’Artagnan, comes
from. D’Artagnan has been immortalized by Alexandre
Dumas through his work "Les Trois Mousquetaires".
Gers is also France Département which has on its
territory the greater number of St Jacques de Compostelle
trails. It’s a stopping-off place for numerous pilgrims
going to St Jacques de Compostelle walking on either the
Puy route or the Arles route.
So, you may enjoy the sight of numerous monuments: chapels,
abbeys, bridges, the “Collégiale de La Romieu”,
the Sainte-Marie’s Cathedral in Auch, and multiple
vestiges.
